About Me:

The Shorter Version

(For a longer, more intimate look at my personal journey, Click Here).

LyndaAs a Licensed Psychologist, as well as a former remedial reading teacher, mediator and personnel recruiter, I bring a rare combination of formal education, specialized training and human relations experience to my work as a Life Coach.

From teaching a functionally illiterate single mom to read the labels on food packages, to counseling bereaved widows, to mediating love triangles in the restraining order court, I've seen the human drama from many angles.  Coaching brings a new perspective - one that allows both me and my clients to shift our focus from the past to the present, from drama to dreams.

My coaching philosophy is grounded in the principles and practices developed by Maria Nemeth, Ph.D., Psychologist, Master Certified Coach, and creator and founder of The Academy for Coaching Excellence in Sacramento, CA.  Maria's work is based on the premise that we are all already whole and complete, and we are here to develop mastery in bringing the best within us into our lives in tangible form.

While a great deal of my work is devoted to individual coaching, as a Licensed Seminar Leader for the Academy for Coaching Excellence, I also present workshops and seminars (stay tuned for more info on topics, dates, and times).

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, a Master's in Dispute Resolution, and a Ph.D. in Psychology.  I'm a member of the International Coach Federation and a Certified Coach (through the Academy for Coaching Excellence). .

In keeping with my philosophy that service and self-expression are not mutually exclusive, I've participated in a variety of volunteer activities from mentoring teenagers to facilitating community dialogues around divisive social issues.  As an active member of the non-profit Step Up Women's Network, I regularly present goal-setting workshops for the Los Angeles chapter's Professional Mentorship Program.  In 2007, I was proud to receive Step Up's Commitment to Philanthropy Award in recognition of this work.

An enthusiastic member of Century City Toastmasters, I serve as the club's President, write for the monthly newsletter, and just generally have a great time giving speeches ranging from "How I Discovered I Wasn't a Communist" to "My Favorite Kitchen Tools."

"In spite of my professional successes, there was a creative side to me that had gone unfulfilled for years.  I never lacked for great ideas and high aspirations but making my dreams materialize into reality was a different story.  My intentions to be a successful writer and to experience joyful work by starting a business had been put on the back burner for too long.  I was ready to live a more authentic life.  That's when a friend led me to Lynda, and I am forever grateful to both.

It was through coaching with Lynda that I was able to identify the negative self-talk that kept me from taking steps forward.   Lynda was compassionate and patient as she helped me to simply observe the chatter, then gently shift my attention so I could reach my goals with enthusiasm and ease.  She supported me through the initial stages of a business startup and helped me identify and eliminate the blockages that kept me from writing.  In each session, I received unconditional support and gentle, steady guidance.   Although my goals initially seemed overwhelming and hard to reach, Lynda taught me how to create small, simple and achievable steps, and my goals soon began to take shape.

Within a few months of coaching, I started my own business and was able to write again, after years of "writer's block."   I am now working on my fifth chapter!  I'm thrilled to discover that giving expression to my creative nature has freed up so much energy, and that my work has become joyful.  I am recommending coaching with Lynda to all my friends because I fully trust her skills, insight and experience, and because I believe she leads by example.
